The first step in the weight management process is to collect and review your medical history, which includes your genetic, psychological, social, and environmental information. The information in this history will help us determine which tests we will recommend.
While fasting laboratory tests are required for all our patients, we may require other tests:
Once these tests have been completed and the information has been reviewed and evaluated, we will be able to put together a tailored metabolic management plan based on your specific needs. Your personalized weight management plan will include the following:
As registered examiners for commercial drivers, we are able to perform these required physicals in accordance to the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) standards. If you meet the following qualifications, you will be required to perform such a physical:
We want you to be as comfortable as possible, so we recommend that you wear comfortable clothes to your examination appointment. You will need to bring with you any required forms, including the DOT Medical Examination Report, with the “Driver Information” and “Health History” sections already completed.
The examination itself will include a review of your health history, a urine test, and a physical exam.
After the examination, we will complete the Medical Examination Report for Commercial Driver Fitness Determination form and the Medical Examiner’s Certificate as appropriate.
Please make note that your insurance will not pay for this special type of physical examination, and payment will be required at the time of your visit. Additional charges apply for labs and tests, including the urine test, random blood glucose, hemoglobin A1c, or spirometry.
Also, please do not replace your regular annual physical examination with your primary care doctor with this commercial driver physical. This exam is specific to the needs of the certification requirements and does not offer the kind of personalized examination that your primary care physician will offer you.
